21 Students Gets Scholarship Award From Anambra Law-maker

The Member Representing Onitsha South 2 Constituency and Deputy Chief Whip Anambra State House of Assembly, Beverly Ikpeazu Nkemdichie has put smiles on the faces of 21 students of Metu Memorial Secondary School, Odoakpu Onitsha.

The legislator who is the chairman house committee on tertiary education gave out scholarship award to the 21 students who performed well in the free lesson programme she personally sponsored for Junior Secondary School ( JSS) 3 and Senior Secondary (SS 3) students for the long vacation.

In his opening speech, it was gathered that Mofus Ezeoba, Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Onitsha South LGA, informed the audience that the lawmaker is doing well and has continued to give her people quality representation at the State Assembly.

He pointed out that as Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Tertiary Education, the issue of education into the state-owned University will be solved for the constituents.

He equally eulogized her for adequately taking care of women and children in her Constituency which earned the juicy position of Deputy Chairman House Committee on Social Development, Gender and Children’s Affairs.

Furthermore, while welcoming the audience to the school, the Principal Metu Memorial Secondary School, Mrs Ajulufo was full of praises on the peoples representative whom she said deemed it fit to organize the free lesson programme in their school for students in the Constituency, while also awarding scholarships to deserving students who came out excellently in the exams held.

In her speech, the legislator announced that the free lesson programme will be held annually for students in the Constituency. She also admonished the recipients of Scholarship scheme not to relent but work harder to justify their efforts of the parents as she equally appealed to those who didn’t get the scholarship not to lose hope but to work harder for the next opportunity might beckon on them

Luck, however, shined on Asonye Casmir Uche, whom Nkemdichie took interest in when she flagged off the scholarship programme, as she promised to train him up to the University level on her own. He also came out tops in the exams for the awards; consequently, the lawmaker announced her intention to train him from his Secondary till he achieves his dream profession after higher institution. Excitement greeted the arena as the mum was surprised and overwhelmed by tears of joy.

The high point of the event was award of scholarship to overall best students in JSS 3 and SS 3 and in other categories.
