The Member Representing Nnewi North State Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Nonso Okafor (Smart) has enjoined women in the state to take advantage of their positions in the family and society to drive social development.
Okafor who is the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Social Development, Gender, and Children Affairs said this yesterday, Tuesday, 23rd October, 2019, during the Inauguration of the Women Wing of the elected Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU), at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka.

Speaking during the Inauguration cum leadership training, Nonso Okafor said that development cannot be holistic and sustainable without women. According to him, the active participation of women in community development will fuel a sustainable economy and benefit society.
He advised the elected women leaders of different town unions to use their positions in promoting peace, economic activities and implementing developmental projects in their towns/villages.
He, however, promised the women that Anambra State House of Assembly will continue to support any legislation that is targeted at investing and promoting women to ensure sustainable development of the State.
