INEC Office Set On Fire By Thugs In Imo

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office in Orlu local government in Imo state has been set on fire by suspected thugs on Monday, 3rd February.

Confirming the incident, Orlando Ikeokwu, police spokesman in the state, said the state police commissioner has since mobilized security operatives to the area.

“I can confirm the incident to you but the cause of the fire outbreak is unknown for now. The state commissioner of police has dispatched security operatives to the scene of the incident,” he said.

“The deputy commissioner of Police in charge of operations led the squad to the scene.”

The incident is believed to be connected to the recent Supreme court judgement which sacked Emeka Ihedioha as governor of the state and pronounced Hope Uzodinma as the winner.
