To avoid a repeat of Owerri prison break and other prison breaks across the country, the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, has requested for the assistance of the Nigerian Army to train its armed squad personnel to check the invasion of custodial centers by armed hoodlums.

Francis Enobore, the Public Relations Officer of the service, said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said that the request was contained in a letter which the Acting Controller-General of NCoS, John Mrabure, sent to the Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, observing that the request had been granted.
