Channels TV reports that Professor George Obiozor, the president-general of the group made the disclosure during a press conference on Monday, April 19, in Abuja. Speaking in reaction to the recent violence in the southeastern states, Obiozor maintained that Igbos are builders and not nation breakers.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo president called for the harmonization of security operations in the region, adding that the root of the recent spray of violence must be identified. While noting that undue publicity should not be given to trivial issues, Obiozor called on the public not to associate the southeast with kidnappings or violence.
Earlier, ANAEDOONLINE reported that the apex Igbo socio-cultural group lamented over the increased spate of attacks on southeast residents. The organization urged the federal government to devise fresh strategies to arrest the worsening insecurity as it could threaten the nation’s unity, peace, and security.
Meanwhile, ANAEDOONLINE reported that the southeast governors’ forum launched its own joint security outfit for the region codenamed ‘Ebube Agu.’ The decision was after governors and stakeholders of the region held a security meeting in Imo state on Sunday, April 11.
All governors in the region were present at the meeting which also had in attendance Army, Navy, and Air Force commanders, the Inspector-General of Police, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and other key stakeholders.

In a related development, Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, explained why he and his colleagues took the decision to launch their own joint security outfit.
Ikpeazu said the new agency would oversee and monitor the activities of vigilante groups within the geopolitical zone. According to him, the governors came together to synergize and see how best they can protect the lives and properties of citizens.
