Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the beleaguered leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has not been removed or replaced, according to his family.

Kanu was said to have been replaced as the leader of the Biafra organization in the United Kingdom by Sofia Chinyere Kalu.

According to reports, Kalu, who serves as the group’s Financial Secretary in the United Kingdom, has assumed the role of Kanu, who is now detained by the Department of State Security Service, DSS.

This was corroborated by Ezeji Chukwuma, a separatist who runs the IPOB and Radio Biafra Community Interest Companies (CIC) Registry in London, UK, and Simon Ekpa, a self-styled disciple of Kanu.

Kingsley ‘Kanunta’ Kanu, the IPOB leader’s brother, responded to the news by denying that his elder brother had been dismissed from his post.

Mrs Kalu has not been selected as the new leader of the outlawed organisation, as widely reported, Kanunta stated in a tweet on Friday.

“#MaziNnamdiKanu is the ONE and ONLY leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra,” he added (IPOB).
