On Wednesday morning, a squad of unknown gunmen stormed the Ayamelum Divisional Police Station in Anaku, Anambra State.

The assailants were reportedly repulsed by several police officers on duty. However, the gunmen set fire to some of the station’s working cars.

According to sources, over three vehicles were destroyed in the fire, but the station remained unaffected.

“Our arms are intact and our men are in high spirit. Operations are still ongoing in the area to arrest the hoodlums.”

The attack came weeks after the state governor, Charles Soludo suspended Monday’s sit-at-home initiated by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Recall, IPOB declared the sit at home order to press, the release of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is facing charges on alleged jumping of bail, running a proscribed organisation, and terrorism.

Despite the efforts of the new governor to bring peace, attacks orchestrated by unknown gunmen had increased in the state.
