Please can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Arc Izuchukwu Stanley Okwumuo. I am the fourth child of Late Chief Zephaniah Okwumuo and Mrs. Charity Okwumuo of Akaboukwu Uruagu Nnewi. I had my primary school at Community Primary School, Akaboukwu, and my secondary school at New Era Model Secondary School, Nnewi. Thereafter, I proceeded to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University) where I obtained BSc in Architecture and drawing.

I am the CEO of Zubix Construction, Architect and Builders LTD, founded in 2016 with about twenty staff on our employment and over seventy others on a daily pay. I am married to Dr. Mrs. Joy Okwumuo and we are blessed with four adorable kids.

We understand that you are running to represent Nnewi North in the Anambra State House of Assembly under APGA. Why are you in the race?

I am in this race because I am deeply convinced that I have the desired wherewithal to represent Ndi Nnewi North effectively. My ambition is driven by the passion to render selfless service to my people and see how we can leverage on the instrumentality of government for the well-being of our people and our town.

We are aware that there are other aspirants contesting the same position with you in APGA, can you tell us what distinguishes amongst others and why the delegates should vote for you.

In as much as I believe that my brother aspirants are all qualified, I think what sets me apart is how we have been able to deploy the little personal resources God has blessed us within the service of our people and community. The borehole that I provided for the provision of free water for my community as far back as 2017 remains working till date. I single-handedly constructed the kindred hall, and have given scholarships and educational grants to our people. I have sponsored over 10 of our youths in pursuit of their dreams overseas. I have provided grants to some selected women in support of their businesses; I have annually sponsored the free gate pass and provision of football jerseys during the annual Uruagu football competition. I have constructed many culverts in various communities and also donated a tipper to the community who in appreciation appointed me the works chairman of the community. The truth is that we have demonstrated love and passion for our people and community before now, don’t forget that the little I mentioned out of what we have been able to do have been out of the little God has blessed me with; we are willing to do more.

Nnewi North is the home of billionaires who are not politicians but tends to use political offices to compensate their loyalists. Who is your godfather?

I sincerely do not think it is appropriate to tag the support as compensation. One thing you cannot take away from our illustrious sons and daughters is their undiluted love for the town hence their interests in political leadership of our town. Don’t forget that these are men and women that have invested a lot in terms of human and material resources in the development of Nnewi and have earned the respect and trust of our people. So to that extent, it is not out of place that they from time to time support who they in their estimation believe is right for leadership positions. Their love for the wellbeing of Nnewi has never been in doubt and it is same love and passion for good tidings for Nnewi that is behind my aspiration, hence as many of them as I would have their privilege of sharing in my aspiration are my godfathers, including that market woman at Nwafor Uruagu and that young trader at Agboedo market.

What are the areas that you think that should be of a priority to the government in your constituency?

Number one for me is security of lives and properties; there is no denying the fact the entire state is challenged security-wise hence not peculiar to Nnewi. I must commend his Excellency, Prof C.C Soludo for his reassuring commitment towards providing a secure Anambra during his revised budget presentation and I encourage him to stand firm in this regard. Secondly is the issue of roads within Nnewi, it is unfortunate that Nnewi has not had her fair share in terms of good roads commensurate with her status as one of the fastest developing city in Africa and the situation is made worse now that we are in rainy season. I commend again our governor for making a provision of the sum of 50 billion naira in the revised budget for road construction and implore him to make Nnewi roads a priority. Then you have the issue of power, if the government can address the electricity challenges in Nnewi taking cognizance of her industrial inclinations, we can conveniently say that Nnewi has been placed on a pedestal for astronomical growth. This and many others that space may not permit me to state here are the priorities for me and I intend to when elected, pursue them with vigor.

In recent times, people have been complaining about the activities of Unknown gunmen in your constituency,

how do you intend to address the issue of insecurity in Nnewi North?

You have to understand that the three cardinal duties of a legislator is lawmaking in terms of bills and motions; over sighting the executive and appropriation. As a legislator, I do not wield executive authority hence I will always use my position and influence when elected to draw the attention of the institutions involved. We will also try to see how to use the instrumentality of legislation to strengthen our security infrastructure and to also speak up when necessary.

What has been your experience since you joined the race?

Challenging, illuminating, exciting, and rewarding.

What do you have to say to Nnewi North APGA delegates?

I sincerely want to thank them for their support and encouragement thus far and I want to assure them that it is not taken for granted. I want to also appeal to them give me their vote in the forthcoming primary election. If the requirements for this job is ability to network among colleagues, good communication skills, ability to set and achieve targeted goals; possession of leadership skills and ability to execute assigned roles; please support Arc Izuchukwu Stanley Okwumuo for I have the requisite knowledge, track records and passion to give Ndi Nnewi a responsible representation.
