Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has asserted that Atiku Abubakar is being supported by someone in the presidency of Nigeria in the run-up to the 2023 elections.
The Peoples Democratic Party is running the former vice president for president (PDP).
Wike lost the election to him in May and has since kept up his demands for Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman, to resign.

He suggested that the party’s flagbearer and chairman should both be from the North in his speech at the Rivers State University’s Ahoada Campus.
The Atiku camp, according to the governor, is arrogant because they think they have a lot of support.
“They are arrogant because they believe somebody in the presidency is backing them.
“But what they don’t understand is that the same person backed somebody in the APC presidential primaries and the person failed.
“I will tell Nigerians at the appropriate time…the person in the presidency that is backing them”, Wike promised.
Atiku pledged to end the situation during the 97th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday.

According to the PDP candidate, conflicts occur frequently in families, workplaces, and political organizations.
“I appeal to all members of our party to make sure that our disagreements are resolved internally,” he said.
