Gov Okowa Releases N5 Billion For Pension Arrears In Delta

The Delta State Government disbursed N5 billion on Monday to cover pension arrears to retirees in the state.

According to a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, N2.5 billion was released for the payment of pension arrears for state pensioners, as well as N2.5 billion as a grant to the Local Government Pensions Bureau for the payment of Local Government and primary school retirees.

Aniagwu stated that the gesture was part of the government’s attempts to alleviate the plight of the state’s impacted senior citizens.

The Information Commissioner commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice-Presidential candidate, for his stated dedication to the welfare and well-being of the state’s residents.
