Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has chastised his Labour Party (LP) rival, Peter Obi, for accepting a $200 donation from a secondary school student.

According to news reports, a secondary school student named Chizzy Ebube Balogun recently made a financial gift to Obi’s presidential campaign.

The Labour Party candidate, who revealed the situation via a Twitter post on Sunday, hailed the young girl’s donation as a small but invaluable donation in an appreciative tweet.

Obi wrote: “My deep appreciation to Ms. Chizzy Ebube Balogun, a secondary school (SS2) student, for her small but most invaluable donation. She has invested in her future and those of her contemporaries and generations yet unborn. She is an exemplar in social consciousness.

“God bless you and your generation. -PO”

However, in response to the donation, Sowore called the development a hoax.
