Naira Redesign: Malami Is Public Enemy – Tinubu Campaign Council

Bayo Onanuga, the campaign’s spokesperson, declared in a tweet that Mr Malami is a “public adversary like Emefiele.”

According to the Bola Tinubu presidential campaign, Nigerian Attorney General Abubakar Malami is a public enemy, following in the footsteps of Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele.

Mr Onanuga was responding to the preliminary objection filed by the justice minister through his lawyers Mahmud Magaji and Tijanni Gazali, requesting the Supreme Court of Nigeria to dismiss the suit launched by three northern governors to block the CBN’s currency redesign policy from being implemented.

Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, and Bello Matawalle of Zamfara had petitioned the Supreme Court to stop the implementation of the naira redesign strategy on the grounds that the notice deadline was too short and did not meet the reasonable notice requirement mandated by law.

The governors also charged the administration with failing to do enough to ease the handover of the notes.

The regime of President Muhammadu Buhari has maintained that the Supreme Court lacks authority to hear the case.

The AGF further claimed that the “plaintiffs have similarly failed to establish a viable cause of action against the defendant.”
