On the circumstances that caused Balarabe Abbas Lawal to collapse on Wednesday at the Nigerian Senate’s ministerial screening, further information has come to light.

Recall that Abbas slouched throughout the screening process after reading his biography and responding to queries on why the parliamentarians should confirm him.

Medical professionals had to be brought into the Senate as a result of the development in order to revive the ministerial candidate.

After a few minutes, according to Anaedoonline.ng, he was successfully revived and carried by ambulance out of the Senate Chamber.

According to a person who spoke on the subject and was cited by Channels TV, Lawal initially slouched out of weariness.

Lawal talked for nearly fifteen minutes before he passed out.

The candidate stated during his speech that he has extensive experience working in government and plans to use it to improve things in the President Bola Tinubu administration’s cabinet.

“I want to indicate clearly that, as part of my career, I was appointed secretary to the government three times from 2015 till today. I want to say that I am likely the longest-serving secretary to the government in Nigeria.

“I have been part of administration; I have been part of policy-making. I have been part of trying to change things in the country based on what I did at the federal level and at the state level.

“I want to bring this experience to wherever I find myself in the new cabinet of the president. I want to express my gratitude to all of you for listening, and I also want to extend my sincere thanks to the President of the Senate for allowing me to stand before the chambers,” he said.
