In a move aimed at securing the musical rights of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, the House of Representatives has taken a significant step. Controversial singer Azeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, has been summoned to appear before the House. Additionally, Mohbad’s manager, Jiggy Adeoye, is also invited to appear on October 31.

Mohbad, a former artist under Naira Marley’s record label, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that raised questions. In response to his death, the Lagos State Government initiated a coroner’s inquest to investigate the 27-year-old singer’s passing.

The decision by the House of Representatives to summon Naira Marley and Mohbad’s manager follows a motion put forth by Babajimi Benson, the legislator representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Lagos State. Benson underlined the pressing need to review and update the laws governing the entertainment industry to protect artists’ copyrights and royalties.
