The heavy downpour yesterday at Otolo Nnewi resulted in severe flooding along the Igwe Orizu road by Ekeochie bus-stop which almost claimed the life of a man in his late fifties as he almost lost his motorbike in the process as well.
The man who tried driving through the flood was washed into the gutters, to be carried away by the flood. It took the intervention of some boys who came to his rescue, to save him from the death the disaster.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said, “this Ekeochie is always dangerous when it rains, we end up having victims, the majority of which are motorcyclists. Their bodies and bikes are always recovered at the mmiri ele river in Umudim, Nnewi”.
Furthermore, she said: ” a protector was done last month to limit death rate, but today’s experience, prove it not being enough. We need proper reconstruction of this road”.
Residence thus pleaded with the government to help save them from these unfortunate happenings caused by heavy rainfall.
