THREE STOREY BUILDING COLLAPSES IN NNEWI TODAY (THURSDAY)

A three storey building belonging to one Mr. Avoyi Collins ‘m’ collapsed at Okpuno Otolo in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.

Our reporter, who visited the scene of the incident reported that Nnewi Police Patrol Teams led by the Area Commander Nnewi, ACP Nnanna Ama, were already on ground to cordon off the area to prevent looters from taking advantage of the situation to steal; adding that volunteers were also mobilised for the rescue of trapped victims, including eleven foreign masons from the Republic of Togo.

So far, nine of them were rescued alive from the collapse building while efforts are ongoing to rescue two others, who are still trapped inside the debris.

Meanwhile, the rescued victims were rushed to the Community Health Center, Okpuno for medical attention; while investigations are ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.

CONFUSION AS MAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN LAGOS

Contacted, Anambra State Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, a Superintendent of Police, said police authorities are already investigating the incident.

The owner of the collapsed building was not on ground to speak to newsmen.

Sympathizers were seen hanging around the scene of the incident; discussing in groups, but none spoke to newsmen about the collapsed structure.
