PDP SUSPENDS ATIKU’S CAMPAIGN OVER ONNOGHEN’S SUSPENSION

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential campaign organisation has said that it would put its campaign on hold in solidarity with the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari,

Reports gathered that the suspension would see the party not holding its campaign in Benue state today, Saturday, January 26.

It was gathered that the party decided to put off the rally “in solidarity with the Nigerian judiciary

The decision to suspend the campaign was said to have been taken with the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

According to a previous report, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday, January 25, rejected the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari

The former vice president who disclosed this in a statement made available to a news agency said he rejects the suspension in its entirely and called on Onnoghen and the judiciary to resist the action by every legal and constitutional means

In related development, the Senate president, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately reveres himself on the suspension of chief justice of Nigeria, Justice Onnoghen.

Saraki said the president has sent a wrong signal to the world by unilaterally taking a decision of such magnitude and not following the provision of the constitution

The Senate president said this in a statement on Friday, January 25. He added that the Nigeria’s constitution makes no provision for the suspension of the nation’s highest judicial officer
