Breaking News: Chinedum Orji Emerges Abia Speaker, Unopposed
Abia State House of Assembly member representing Umuahia Central Constituency, Honorable (Engr.) Chinedum Orji has emerged as the Speaker of the 7th Abia House of Assembly unopposed.
Honorable Ifeanyi Uchendu of Ohafia South constituency was also elected as Deputy Speaker.
Other elected principal officers include;
Majority Leader,
Hon Solomon Akpulonu (PDP)
Minority leader Abraham Oba (APGA)
Deputy Minority Leader Honorable Chukwu Chijioke (APC)
Deputy Majority Leader, Honorable Paul Taribo
Chief Whip, Honorable Munachim Alozie
Deputy Chief Whip, Honorable Chukwudi Apugo
Honorable Munachim Alozie nominated Engr Orji for the position of Speaker and it was seconded by Honorable Ginger Onwusibe. No counter nomination was received.
The house has adjourned to 17th June 2019.
