Nonso Okafor Highlights Opportunities For Youths In Politics (photos)
The Member Representing Nnewi North Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nonso Okafor, has highlighted some of the opportunities for youths in politics and practical ways in achieving their political ambition.
Nonso Okafor (Smart) who was live on Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) Saturday Morning flagship program, ‘The Weekend Show’ emphasized on the need for Nigeria youths with knowledge, capacity and charisma who can bring fresh ideas, innovation and solutions to our democratic system to venture into politics.
Speaking during the program, Nonso Okafor (Smart) highlighted how the ‘Not Too Young To Run Bill’, which was championed by YIAGA Africa raised the political consciousness of the young Nigeria population and encouraged them to pick interest in running for political offices.
Using himself as a case study, the young legislator spoke on how youths can overcome factors like money politics, godfatherism and imposition of candidates, and several other challenges that is facing many young Nigerians in the course of running for political offices, he said, that his focus is on issue based campaign which enabled him to speak more about his legislative agenda and his previous achievements endeared him in the hearts of many
Speaking further, he urged youths to focus more on selling their ideas to the public than throwing around money, as this was the easiest way the populace can mobilize support to actualize their ambition.
He however, encouraged his colleagues in the Anambra State House of Assembly members, which are more of young people, on the need to meet people’s expectations.
