Jubilation as Anambra Youngest Female Philanthropist Visits Leprosy Settlement

As part of her measures of mitigating the conditions of the less privileged in the society, Ejike Favour, the Founder and President of Favour Sams Foundation, yesterday, Sunday, 14th July 2019, visited Oji River Settlement Center with members of her Foundation.

The visit was indeed an emotional one for Ejike Favour, as she expressed disappointment over the neglect of the Leprosy Settlement which appears to have been abandoned with many of the buildings dilapidated.

With staff and volunteers of her Foundation, Ejike Favour, presented food Items, gifts and cash donations to the management of the settlement.

Moved to tears by their condition, members of Favour Sams Foundation, went round to encourage the Leprosy patients who shared their feelings and the stories of the obvious discrimination they are facing.

Speaking during the visit, Ejike Favour, said the visit tagged “Leprosy Settlement Scheme Outreach” was in line with the aims and objectives of her Foundation which is focused on helping the less-privileged in the society.

Speaking she said, “We visited this Settlement to encourage and put smiles on the faces of the Leprosy patients here in Oji River”

“I can remember one of the quotes of Mother Teresa, the great woman who have continued to inspire me, she said that the biggest disease today is not leprosy or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted, leprosy is not the worst sickness, but they are being discriminated”
Encouraging well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organizations to identify with the
destitutes and less-privileged persons in the society, she said,

“I encourage the public to visit, give, interact and socialize with these patients, it will go a long way in assisting and giving them a sense of belonging”

She however appealed to the state government and individuals to help in improving the infrastructure of the Settlement which she noted was dilapidated.

Speaking on behalf of the excited patients, Mr. Chukwunonso Okafor, expressed happiness over the visit, saying that the visit was a blessing to them, admitting that they are indeed neglected.

Praying for the Foundation, a visiting priest to the Settlement, Rev. Canon Royal Maduakor, blessed members of Favour Sams Foundation, praying that God will give them the grace to do more.
