Willie Obiano: A Liberator Or A Chain Clutter?

Anambra, our dear state, nestled on the Eastern bank of the River Niger, OMAMBALA, Ulasi and Oguta lake. These contributing water bodies offer the state the serenity that could be found only in seventh heaven or a model of paradise.

Anambra is a boat ride or swims away from Delta; depending on your risk threshold. She is surrounded by Enugu, Imo, Abia, and Kogi on certain boundaries.

Anambra had been known to be a Prosperous, Peaceful and beloving state in the time of our fathers. But these virtues were truncated sooner than Anambra was tucked away from Enugu as a Single State. These truncations became worse at the end of the ’90s and early noughts. Wherefore, Anambra was seen and mocked for being the den of armed robbers, kidnappers and et’al.

Consequently, She was themed “HOME FOR ALL!”. It was a taunting slogan of disrepute and intolerable mockery. Thereat, with these prevailing vices in the interplay, the collective fortunes of the state were scarcely bettered.

She adopted different strategies and measures to interphase on the missing links on security in the state; ranging from Bakassi through Operation Sweep, to Operation Mkpochapu, but the security never got any better. There was a persistent menace of quantum of deaths on an hourly basis on the streets and roads of Anambra, following; robbery, assassinations and/or maiming of lives.

Thereof, every sector and spheres of life; SECURITY through Education to healthcare were in palpable shambles. There was strike in schools. People could not access healthcare. Worst still, no one was safe. We lived in perpetual fear. Our land was overtaken by terrorists (armed robbers). We all had our hearts panting naked on our hands, invisible fear and rage.

At an irredeemable level, people lost confidence in relationships on their doorstep neighbors, relatives, nearest and dearest. People lived in withdrawals. Consequent upon these, we lost our sense of humanity and thus became animalistic in all sense of it. It would be logically loud if someone says that, our lives literally came to a halt at that time. What a heart-wrenching flashback!

In so far, as if that were not enough, Anambra’s indexes on many sectors and spheres of life became the sad commentaries on the nation’s prodigal economic, education and SECURITY decline.

With these inflow of untamed INSECURITIES, people abandoned their houses and businesses, took to their heels. Thence finding succor and refuge in the neighboring states, especially Enugu or Nigeria’s capital city.

Simultaneously, the foreign investors fled out of Anambra and the Anambra indigenes living abroad (The diasporans) became “NATTERED” (People of whom are known to never visit their hometowns, except in the moment of death (burials, funerals) and traditional weddings… AND THE STATE’S ECONOMY WENT COMATOSE AND APOPTOTIC! Therein, the youth were on the cross-road of either to beat-them-or-join-them-dilemma. Many a number of youths went for the latter.

Eventually, our youth were mobilized for impunity and executive rascality in high places. The number of gangsters increased under the vantage viewpoints of our dear parents. Many parents subsequently died out of heartache, as they watched their well-trained children, joining the gangsters/armed robbers/terrorists and kidnappers. It was heart-bleeding whilst these happenstances lasted. At this point in those days, Anambrarians would claim our state as their state of origin but with increasing difficulty. Anambra thus became a disrespectable floor of despising match for the people from other states. She harbored the knaves and the scoundrels. She became a shadow of unforgettable nightmares. It was a cycle of shame and shatters for Anambrarians. It was a season of FACE-HIDING! Anambra was discussed with smifles and signs, frowns and furrowed faces in the public places in Nigeria. It is evident in the archive that “Governance and security challenges in Anambra” was a project topic in Nigerian universities.

Anambra was Cartoned and Creepy…Deserted and Desolated. Anambrarians were Vexated and Voluble…Peevish and Petulant…Piqued and Provocated… Melancholic, Maddening, Maniac and people finally became ruthless and merciless for one another, until people eventually lost the essences that truly made them humans. We simply wished we could cut the atmosphere with a knife!

Fast forward, fueled by His Excellency’s unmatched excellence and propelled by the unbending destiny of His Excellency Chief Dr. Sir Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike Global) love for SECURITY. Today Anambra is Solid, Secured and Serene… Vivacious and Voluble on the national record as a TOPPER. As well as Anambrarians are now Personable, Peaceful, Pleasant and placid.

At present, We are on a transport of delight. Anambrarians that once said their state of origin with increasing difficulty in public places, would now be readily poised and proud to mention our state of origin before we are asked. As things stand presently, Anambra has become the preferred state for the well-meaning citizens/indigenes. All other states that provided refuge for Anambrarians in the times of her challenges are releasing our people, as well as the said states, feel intimidated by Chief Dr. Sir Willie Obiano’s antecedent facts and incident reports on the National parlance and National dailies. (we are grateful to our hosts though).

However viewed, His Excellency has remained a sterling example for the governors in Nigeria.

Today, Anambra is a definitive refuge for mindful travelers, tourists, and residents.

On a daily basis, non-indigenes are trooping into our state, for it is security-driven and very touristy to behold. I was visibly impressed on the turn-up of our people during the last Christmas Celebration. Our people came back en masse from all walks of life, including the NATTERED! They were all buoyed by the confidence and faith our Governor exuded in his security speeches, following the almost-zero-incidences on crime in our state. A confidence aided in no small measure by the sterling examples of His Excellency, Sir Willie Obiano “THE MAGICAL-MARVELOUS-WILLIE…THE MIDAS TOUCH PERSONALITY.” His conscionable act on improved security has paved ways for other governmental roles such as hospitality.

Truth be told, even if His Excellency lacks silver and Gold, he reckons his presence a worthy asset. Even in baking cakes, he is still raising the stakes, because he is salted from the womb. What is not unique about him?

Anambra is on track to excellence and on Nigeria’s record of honor, for being the best or one of the toppers in almost all sectors of life. Yet, His Excellency considers his achievements as the genesis of endless bliss. He often says that “Anambra is indeed flying high, but I want to believe it is a flying start!”.

His emotional belief for Anambra never sways between fear and apprehensions. Rather he is conscientiously on his full-throttle on taking Anambra to the next level; setting the pace, as other states struggle to copy the security antecedent facts that brought Anambra into an enviable national spot.

Today, Anambra might not be Heaven, but it is Haven compared to what it used to be.

Notwithstanding, the governor still constantly holds workshops with relevant stakeholders and others to ensure and maintain a safe and secure Anambra and her indigenes, as well as her dwellers. These workshops are resilient against emergencies; including kidnapping, theft, terrorism and related hazards as set out in Anambra risk register.

Could you join me to suggest other ways by which the governor would improve on our security? His excellency wants to know through his advisers.

Would you also join me to wish his excellency well as he strides determinedly into a SECURED-PROMISE-FILLED-FUTURE for Anambrarians.

Truly His Excellency does more than he says. It is in his quiet nature to keep matters tranquil with disarming discretions. He does not believe in all mouths but no actions.

His political inclinations are apostolic. Honest to God, If Jesus were to come in today’s political parlance. I make bold to say that Chief Dr. Sir Willie Obiano would automatically become the 13th disciple of Christ. This expresses why the Catholic pope considered him worthy of the Vatican knighthood of repute. Indeed, the thought that His excellency is tenure-bound and shall one day cease to be governor of our dear state hurting the hearts of well-meaning indigenes.

I can therefore excitedly say that our governor is a sterling national exemplar for governance in Nigeria.

I commend the governor for seeking feedbacks on Security from the masses, through his advisers. Thereat, I also appreciate all the advisers of the governor for his indefatigable efforts on this assignment.

Please present your perspective on other ways you think best that Anambra and Anambra could be secured.

Suggest/comment on this, in the most cautious manner, for certain people could be recommended for jobs, considering the ingenuity/prudence of their comments herein.
