As part of his responsibilities, the former Nigerian leader is to organise talks between the envoys and rival groups in Mali so as to restore democratic rule and processes.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that disturbing reports claimed that the prime minister of Mali, Boubou Cisse, and the nation’s president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, were on Tuesday, August 18, arrested by some mutinying soldiers.
The leader of the soldiers informed journalists on Tuesday that Cisse and Keita are with them in Bamako, Mali’s capital. Confirming the development, a military official who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the duo were in an armoured vehicle bound for Kati.
Also, details of the discussion between Jonathan and President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, August 18, in Abuja had surfaced from the presidency.
