Governors and their deputies will receive their AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
They equally agreed to ensure strict adherence to guidelines developed by health authorities, part of which stipulates that, front-line health workers and the elderly will be the first set of beneficiaries.
This was part of decisions taken during an emergency virtual meeting of the NGF, presided over by the NGF Chairman, Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The governors also agreed to step up sensitization activities in their various states in conjunction with various stakeholders.
Head, Media and Public Affairs of the NGF, Abdulrazaque Bello- Barkindo, confirmed the development in Abuja, on Thursday.
He said, “3,924,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines (part of the 16 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX facility arrangement), arrived in Nigeria, on Wednesday 3rd March 2021.”
Bello-Barkindo also explained that it was also agreed that government leadership and frontline health workers are to receive the vaccines first starting March 6th 2021, with the President and the Vice President.

According to him, the state governors agreed to work with the Federal Government, to ensure that the required cold Chain set up, trained personnel, and security of the vaccine roll out was put in place to ensure a smooth vaccination campaign.
Citizens were also encouraged to use the e-registration portal of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency to pre-register for vaccination.
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, will receive shots of AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccines on Saturday.
Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this at a State House briefing in Abuja on Thursday.
According to him, the exercise will boost the confidence of Nigerians to receive the about four million doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine shipped into the country this week.
