Violent Protest Rocks Abuja Community, Churches Locked Up Over Fear of Attack

There is tension in Karu community, Abuja, after motorcycle operators engaged in violent protests on Sunday.

It was gathered that residents are currently panicking after motorcycle operators destroyed vehicles and attacked residents in the area.

The protest began around 11 am on Sunday, forcing many churches in the area to lock their gates and residents to stay indoors.

Tragedy: One Feared Dead As Traders Clash

The cause of the agitation by the motorcycle operators is presently unknown.

Religious centres which were opened for Sunday service have asked members to remain indoors to avoid being attacked by the protesters.

It was gathered that operatives of the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army have been deployed to the area to restore law and order.

Residents of Karu, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, among other towns in the area, are affected by the development.

Motorists navigating through the areas have been asked to keep off the route until normalcy is restored.
