In recent days, former President Goodluck Jonathan has been in the headlines for his purported presidential ambitions in the 2023 general elections.

Some speculate that the former president would run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, rather than the Peoples Democratic Party.

To add fuel to the fire around his presidential ambitions, a Northern organization acquired the ruling party’s Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for him.

Despite all of the turmoil, the former president has refused to commit to running for president in 2023.

1. Former President Ikechukwu Eze’s spokesperson, on the 8th of January 2023, refuted rumors that his boss is putting structures in place to run for President of Nigeria in 2023.

Eze also ruled out the idea of Jonathan joining the governing APC in his remarks.

2. On April 22, 2022, Jonathan told protestors demanding for him to run for president that he couldn’t say whether he would declare for the 2023 presidential election or not yet.

3. In a statement made through his spokesperson on May 10th, Jonathan indicated that he is unaware of the presidential form acquired by a Northern group.

Jonathan, he claims, will make his intentions obvious to the public if he decides to run for president and will not do it through the back door.

Nigerians are keenly awaiting the former president’s ultimate choice as the 2023 election approaches.
