March 11 Polls: Confusion Over INEC’s One Week Extension of State Elections

The Independent National Election Commission, INEC, is said to have postponed the governorship and State Assembly elections.

The drill, originally set on Saturday, March 11, has apparently been pushed back one week to Saturday, March 18.

As of 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, the National Commissioner for Information, Festus Okoye, has not gotten back to Newsmen.

Earlier today, the Court of Appeal granted INEC’s request to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, or BVAS, in advance of the state elections.

According to a Labour Party (LP) source, the denial of Peter Obi’s appeal against INEC’s request is not cause for concern.

“We have been granted access to inspect BVAS. The contents are backed up, so there’s no problem for now,” the insider told Newsmen.
