The dismissal of Hon. Edison Ehie, the majority leader of the state House of Assembly, and four other lawmakers has been deemed void by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
During his Monday morning visit to the Assembly Complex in Port Harcourt, the state capital, the governor made these remarks to his supporters.
Fubara claims that the five members’ dismissal would not stand, and he further claims that he was directly shot by security personnel when inspecting the State House of Assembly Complex, which was completely destroyed by fire last night.

He continued by accusing the security personnel of compromising when they permitted arsonists to attack the assembly complex last night.
The governor begged the lawmakers preparing to remove him to come forward publicly, claiming he had not committed any crimes that would necessitate his impeachment.
He said: “Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment,” the governor said while addressing his supporters at the Assembly Complex.”
The governor promised the state’s citizens they would reap the benefits of democracy and promised to address the issue when it was opportune.
“Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you get the dividends of democracy. At the appropriate time I will address the press,” he said.
