Abia Governor Unveils Road Infrastructure to Boost Trade and Commerce

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to building high-quality roads that will stimulate trade and commercial activities in the state. The governor made this declaration during the inauguration of the MCC/Old Express Road in Aba, highlighting the crucial role that well-constructed roads play in both enhancing vehicular movement and facilitating thriving businesses.

Governor Otti disclosed that the government has already awarded contracts for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of key roads that are vital for economic development. He stressed that a thriving economy relies on well-maintained infrastructure, and the government’s goal is to create an environment where businesses can flourish.

The inauguration of the MCC/Old Express Road marks the beginning of a comprehensive restoration of Aba and the state as a whole, signaling that “Aba is open for business.” The governor extended an invitation to potential investors to take advantage of the abundant opportunities available in the state.

The President of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Chief Jerry Kalu, commended the government’s efforts in rebuilding Abia. He emphasized that this agenda will significantly contribute to socio-economic growth in the state.

The Director of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, Mr. Eric Shen, expressed his gratitude to the state government and the local community for their support in completing the road project. He assured that the road was constructed with the highest engineering standards to stand the test of time, and it would greatly enhance the living standards of the residents.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Otumchere Oti, emphasized the government’s determination to change the state’s narrative regarding road network and infrastructure. He encouraged residents to protect the newly reconstructed roads, which were designed with the best specifications, including street lights and drainages, to ensure their long-term serviceability.
