The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has instructed its members to participate in the nationwide strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC). The directive came from Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of ASUU, in a letter sent to all union zonal coordinators and branch chairpersons.

The nationwide strike, declared by NLC and TUC, began at midnight on November 13, 2023. The directive from ASUU aligns with the call by the labor unions to address various issues, including the assault on NLC leaders and ongoing labor concerns in the country.

The letter urged ASUU members to join the strike to protect the interests of Nigerian workers and demonstrate solidarity with the broader labor movement. The union’s zonal coordinators and branch chairpersons were directed to mobilize members for active participation in the nationwide action.
