Nnewi North Constituency: Division Hits Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s Camp Over The Choice Of Augustine Ikeh (Ikedoji)

There is shape division in the camp of the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, over the emergence of Sir. Augustine Ikeh as the candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP) for the Anambra State House of Assembly election for Nnewi North Constituency.

Anaedoonline.ng learnt that the emergence of Augustine Ikeh was following the directive of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to the leadership of YPP not to sell expression of Interest and nomination forms to any aspirant from Nnewi without his clearance.

It will be recalled that Anaedoonline.ng had earlier reported that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Banquo Global Agency, Hon. Sir Nnamdi Udeaja, Managing Director (MD) of Jalou Events, Sir. James Okoye and the Publisher of Bell Newspaper, Sir. Augustine Ikeh (Ikedoji), were the front runners for the ticket of the party.

According to a liable source, because of Senator’s preference of Sir Augustine Ikeh, Sir. Nnamdi Udeaja (Banquo) and Sir. James Okoye (Jalou) could not buy the expression of Interest and nomination forms from the party office, because they were not cleared by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

He revealed that the Distinguished Senator asked both James Okoye and Nnamdi Udeaja to step down for Augustine Ikeh, who the Senator claimed he promised ticket of the party last year. He said, although Nnamdi Udeaja who has been loyal to the Senator in the past ten (10) years, was said to have appealed to the Senator to allow a free and fair primary, the Senator suspecting that Augustine Ikeh will lose, directed the state party office not to sell the forms to any aspirant expect Augustine Ikeh.

The emergence of Augustine Ikeh popularly known as Ikedoji has sharply divided the political camp of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, as many are angry over what they described as the insensitivity and shallow mindedness of the Senator.

A prominent supporter of the Senator who pleaded for anonymity while speaking to our correspondent said that the Senator’s choice of Augustine Ikeh has exposed how poorly the senator reason.

Speaking he said, “My brother, how on earth will the Senator prefer Ikedoji over Banquo and Jalou? I don’t understand the Senator’s decision. Augustine Ikeh can never win any election in Nnewi even in his Umunna, go to Edoji which is his village, and make your investigation. When he was the Publicity Secretary of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, he made a lot of enemies in Nnewi, tell me any stakeholder in Nnewi that will support him?

Continuing he said, “Go to Uruagu and ask questions, the guy almost destroyed his community leadership by creating crisis, the same in happened Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, before Uruagu Community recalled him from Nzuko-Ora Nnewi. He has issues with many stateholders in the town.

Another member of the camp said that he was not impressed with the Senator’s decision, emphasizing that the Senator doesn’t reward loyalty and that Augustine Ikeh and YPP will lose the election. Speaking he said, “Most of us who are loyalists of the Senator in Nnewi are not happy with him, Ikedoji is not going nowhere, let’s see who will even campaign and what he will campaign with, we have decided that we will not have anything to do with him, I won’t say much”

At the time of writing, attempt to get the reaction of Nnamdi Udeaja (Banquo) and Sir. James Okoye (Jalou) proved abortive as they did not pick up the phone call of our correspondent.
