Nnewi: Okpuneze Community Cries Out Over Erosion Threat
Okponoeze Uruagu Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area, have cried out for help over erosion menace in the area.
For the residents of the area, they are now sitting on a keg of gun powder following the devastating effects of erosion.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the area during the weekend, the President General of Okponoeze Community Uruagu Nnewi, Mr. Ikechukwu Owolabi, lamented that the encroaching erosion is a big threat to the lives and properties of residents of the community.

For Mr. Ikechukwu Owolabi, he has spent over N2m from his personal pocket in checking the erosion, he urged the Federal and State Government to come to their rescue because the natural disaster was getting beyond his control and Okponoeze Uruagu Community.
According to him, the inspection tour was intended to make members of the Community and the youths especially, to have Firsthand view of the developing Guly Erosion Site.
Speaking also, Chairman Okponoeze Ward 51, Hon. Okafor Julian Chidozie, said that while the community is pleading for the intervention of the government, the community have also, through self-help, agreed with the youths of the community to put in some palliative measures, through the installation of Bamboo and planting of trees.
