Operation Lit Up Nnewi in full Gear, As Nnewi Community Gets New Transformer
In Anambra State, Nnewi Community that is known as Okpuno Nnewichi received a 500KVA Transformer with voltage 11 from Anambra State Government yesterday, 8th May 2019.
The Governor, Chief Willie Obiano who was ably represented by Hon. Melie Onyejepu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Planning intimated the people of Nnewichi that the Transformer which should have arrived before the election was put on hold because Governor Willie Obiano wanted to avoid a situation where the people will mistake the gesture for an act of vote-buying.

Speaking to Anaedoonline.com, Okpuno Nnewichi Chairman, Hon. Chukwuka Mmadubuike said that the 300KVA transformer which was installed in 1984 for Okpuno Nnewichi community, has not been functional because of some irreparable technical faults, therefore the community had no option but to appeal to Governor Willie Obiano to remedy the situation.
It was as a result of this appeal that The Governor thought it fit to supply Okpuno Nnewichi Community with a brand new 500KVA Transformer from Meksan Transformer Factory (MFD, 2017) as against 300KVA Transformer that the community previously had.
The People of OPkpuno Nnewichi that came out en mass to witness the event expressed their Joy at the Governor’s Kind gesture.
Many Stakeholders of the community were also present at the event, Stakeholders like; Hon. Onyebuchi Of for (minority member House of Assembly, Ekwusigo L.G.A), Hon. Amara Anazodo (Incumbent member Anambra House of Assembly), Hon. Bennett Ngonadi (Former Chairman Nzuko ora Nnewi), Chief Obiora Mbonu (Member BOT Okpuno Community), Arc. Sam Onweluzo (Chairman BOT Okpuno Community), Hon Chike Agwuncha (Chairman APGA Nnewi-north), Cornell Osigwe (Head of Corporate Communications, Innoson Group) and a host of others.
